Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha who is also the Education Minister said that a detailed review of performance of the schools under the Vidya Jyoti School Project would be carried out.
The statement came in the wake of ‘poor’ performance of the Vidya Jyoti Schools in the TBSE conducted board examinations. Opposition parties have raised serious concerns in this issue.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Dr Saha addressed the performance issue of schools under the Vidya Jyoti project and said, “The Vidya Jyoti schools had good results earlier. However, a comprehensive review will be made of the results this time. A detailed discussion will be held with the officials of the Education Department and steps will be taken to solve the problems.”
The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to delivering high-quality education services to students.
He said, the government is actively working towards this goal, recognizing the importance of keeping pace with the technological era.
Dr. Saha made his inaugural visit to the office of the educational channel Vande Tripura, located at Shiksha Bhavan in Agartala on Friday.
Accompanied by officials from the Education Department, the Chief Minister took the opportunity to inquire about the channel’s infrastructure and other details.
In a subsequent media interaction, Dr. Saha shared his personal experience with Vande Tripura, saying, “I watch Vande Tripura almost all the time when I am at home. So I came to see it firsthand today. I have seen a lot since I came here. Initiatives will be taken to upgrade various problems. Especially, I will talk to the officials and take necessary steps for technical upgradation. This channel needs to be further improved. For this, I have given some suggestions to the concerned officials.”
Dr. Saha emphasized the government’s sincerity in providing quality education to the children of the state. He highlighted the importance of keeping students updated on various subjects, aligning with the current age of technology. He also suggested the possibility of expanding the channel to include English medium content alongside Bengali medium.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of providing students with information on various important subjects through pen drives and underscored the need for regular feedback from students about the channel. He assured that he would personally visit schools to inquire about the matter if necessary.
The Chief Minister’s visit was accompanied by the Director of the Higher Education Department, N C Sharma, and other senior officials.
