A group of 14 women from Gobindapur village in North Tripura district have turned their passion for cooking into a thriving business. 

They all have a reputation of being good cooks. However, only their family members knew about their cooking skills, so long.

These women bonded well and decided to capitalise their cooking skills for earnings. Meantime, they came to know about the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM).

With the support of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), they have established a successful Bhujia (a popular Indian snack) production unit in their village.

The women, who started their venture in January this year, have seen their business grow rapidly.

Despite tough competition from the branded Bhujia, their homemade Bhujia is now in high demand, both locally and regionally.

“The quality and taste of this homemade bhujia is strikingly better”, opined one of the Dharmanagar based customers.

The venture has not only provided them with a steady income but has also empowered them financially and socially.

The women received training from TRLM on Bhujia production and Their love for cooking received a boost after they received training from the TRLM.

With necessary skills and training they were ready to launch their venture. But arranging initial investment was a major stumble block. TRLM came to help them and provided with financial assistance to start their business.

They have been able to save a significant amount of money and are now looking to expand their operations.

“We are very grateful for the support we have received from TRLM,” said Preeti Debnath, one of the group members. “This has given us the confidence to pursue our dreams.”

The success of the women’s venture has inspired other women in the region to explore entrepreneurship opportunities.

While TRLM is working to provide more support and resources to women who want to start their own businesses, rural women are searching for innovative business ideas to gain financial freedom.
