Notably, Dhanteras is being celebrated across the country today. It is celebrated two days before Diwali. Dhanteras is also known as Dhantryaodashi or Dhanwantri Triodasi. People purchase precious metals on this day with a belief that they will bring prosperity. Besides Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains also celebrate this festival on a large scale.
