ProMASS: DEC 10,2016: The Government has said that there is need for a National Information and Communication Policy for effective development support communication. Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said this while addressing the 28th State Information Ministers Conference (SIMCON) in New Delhi today.He said, a developing country like India needs strong Development Support Communication approaches. He said, public information and communication should increasingly become development oriented.Mr Naidu requested all Ministers and officials from States to reflect on need and dimensions of a National Information and Communication Policy. He also emphasised the need for an integrated and holistic approach and coordination between Centre and States to ensure the overall development of the country.
The Minister said, Centre and states should work together in bringing back development to the fore. Mr Naidu said, Centre and state governments are equal partners in development and it is the essence of cooperative federalism.He said, Government is promoting India as a filming destination through enhancing ease of doing business. Mr Naidu said, the Government is also encouraging digitization of TV sets, effective use of social media, and to have full utility and advantage of All India Radio, Doordarshan and Publications Division. He said, All India Radio and Doordarshan are pride of the nation and states should use them for better communication.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore said collaboration is now the bedrock of governance. He said a lot of improvement is needed in process of gathering and disseminating information, and it is a continuous process of improvement. Emphasising on the need for collaboration, the Minister said states have to come together with the Centre and work as one team.
