Agri sector growth in Tripura reaches 13.5 pc: Tripura CM

The agricultural sector of Tripura has witnessed noticeable growth during the last two-and-half-years of BJP-IPFT regime – the growth rate increased from 6.5 per cent to 13.5 per cent. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said in Agartala and he attributed the achievement to Modi-led government’s pro-farmers vision and policies.

Highlighting Modi Government’s policies for the welfare of the farming community, Deb said, “The local farmers are now receiving direct benefits as the BJP-IPFT government started purchasing paddy at MSP. Under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, the farmers of Tripura already received Rs. 229 crore in their bank accounts in less than three years”.

The Chief Minister was speaking in a Kisan Rally held in Agartala in support of Agri Bills.

While addressing the party workers, he also came down heavily on communists and alleged, Communists had only used the farmers for attending party programmes like rallies, meetings but in new Tripura, the farmers seeing double growth in their income.

Deb said cadre-raj would not bring income—for receiving income, one has to opt for hard work for becoming self-dependent. In his speech, the Chief Minister also gave an overview of the achievements of the BJP-IPFT government.

Speaking in the rally, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma welcomed the new farm laws and thanked the farmers from Tripura for extending their immense support. He said the new farm laws are purely meant to strengthen the farmers.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is now implementing the slogan of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” the Deputy Chief Minister said adding that with the three Agri Bills in force, now farmers were free to sell their produce without the involvement of any middle man. He categorically mentioned that Agri Bills did not allow cropland transfer or medication of crop land.

“As Prime Minister set his vision to double farmers’ income and make them Atma Nirbhar, the new farm laws will be largely beneficial,” said Agriculture minister Pranajit Singha Roy adding that a section of people was misguiding the farmers for agitation.

“The previous governments never even thought that the farmers’ income can be doubled. In Tripura, the previous government always took anti-farmer policies which led them to face severe financial loss. But, the new government introduced MSP and laid special focus on the Agriculture sector so that the farmers can earn more income,” he told the gathering adding that the BJP-IPFT government was working in line with Modi’s vision for the welfare of farmers.

MP Rebati Tripura, BJP state president Dr. Manik Saha and many of the MLAs along with party leaders were present in the rally.
