All participated in Durga puja, Mayer Gamon carnival peacefully and enthusiastically, says Tripura CM

After two years Covid hiatus, people jumped into celebration during the Durga Puja. The spirit was so high that even bad weather conditions could not dampen the spirit. Amidst huge participation, the Durga Puja festival remained peaceful. People, club authorities, Civil and Police administrations made this laudable achievement possible, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday.

 

Dr Saha was speaking at a glittering programme to distribute Sarad Samman 2022 and awards among the winners of Mayer Gamon Carnival which was held on October 7 last. Besides, ICA department awarded Puja committees and clubs from Agartala and adjacent areas. Puja organizers of the eight districts were also awarded for top performances in various categories.  

 

In the Mayer Gamon – Immersion carnival – Maharajganj Sabji Byabashayi Samiti won the first prize.  Sanghati Club and Bloodmouth Club of Agartala bagged the second and the third prizes respectively.

 

The Mayer Gamon carnival attracted a huge gathering – a record gathering of over 1.5 lakh people who witnessed the Immersion procession. Enthusiasm among the club participants and people was remarkable.

 

In the big-budget Puja category in Agartala and its outskirts, Yuva Sangstha of Central Road bagged the first prize while Azad Hind Club secured the second and Bharat Ratna club bagged the third position.

 

Besides, prizes for Best Theme and environment friendliness etc were also given to clubs.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said people irrespective of ethnicity took part in the Durga Puja.

 

“I visited several Pujas across the State including in Janajati areas. Everywhere peace and joy prevailed. In many of the Janajati area, clubs organized spectacular Puja this year”, he said.

 

However, he cautioned and said, even as peace is prevailing in the state, a section is trying to disrupt the harmonious ambience and misguide people.

 

Dr Saha reiterated the government’s commitment to combating the drug menace. He said the central government is also focusing on eliminating the drug menace.

 

In his speech, ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the government is working for the development of the State with the involvement of all sections of society. He urged the club authorities to cooperate with the government in the battle against drugs.

 

AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder said an ambience of healthy competition was noticed over the Sarod Samman 2022 among the clubs of Agartala and adjacent areas. He thanked all the stakeholders for a wonderful Durga puja celebration.

 

DGP Amitabha Ranjan also thanked people for cooperating with Police and administration during the Durga Puja and Mayer Gamon carnival.
