AMC’s elected members take oath, Tripura CM expects 70 pc vote share for BJP in 2023 polls

All the newly-elected members of the prestigious Agartala Municipal Corporation were sworn in on Wednesday.

 

The swearing-in ceremony was held in the jam-packed hall of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan. The 51 elected members were administered the oath by District Magistrate, West Tripura- Debapriya Bardhan.

 

Dipak Majumder and Manika Das Dutta were then unanimously elected as Mayor and Deputy Mayor followed by a meeting of the elected members.

 

Besides, Jagadish Das, Sampa Sen Sarkar, Hiralal Debnath, Himani Debbarma, Tushar Kanti Bhattacharjee, Bapi Das, Uday Bhaskar Chowdhury and Harisadhan Debnath were elected as members in the Mayor-in-Council. They were administered the oath of office by Secretary of Urban Development department Kiran Gitte.

 

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma, Speaker of Tripura Legislative Assembly Ratan Chakraborty, Education minister Ratanlal Nath, BJP state president Dr. Manik Saha, former Mayor Dr. Prafullajit Sinha and many others remained present in the oath-taking ceremony held at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala.

The Chief Minister congratulated all the new members of Agartala Municipal Corporation and encouraged them to work for the overall development of their respective areas.

 

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday expressed hope saying that the people of Tripura would give 70 percent votes to BJP in the 2023 assembly polls.

Addressing the gathering after AMC’s swearing-in ceremony at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Deb said the party had witnessed a growth in the vote share in every election including the recent urban body polls.

With an eye on the 2023 polls, Deb encouraged the new members of AMC including the Mayor to play a responsible role and work for the people with utmost dedication, with a priority on the first two years.

Referring to the Smart City Project, he hoped that the new members would set a benchmark in terms of ensuring the best citizen services as a token of respect to the people’s verdict.

According to a government press release, Deb said his government is working sincerely for the overall development of AMC areas with state-of-the-art services. In this context, he advised all the councilors to rise above all boundaries and work for the welfare of the citizens of all sections.
