Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this while addressing a public rally at Pecharthal under North Tripura district on Monday. According to Deb, women empowerment is one of the priorities of his government.

Deb said, “Our government has allotted Rs. 81.7 crore for Self Help Groups. At present, 5625 SHGs are there in the state. Before the formation of the BJP-IPFT government, the allocation for SHGs was only Rs. 8.95 crore while number of SHGs was 1108.”

The Chief Minister also told the gathering that the central government had already sanctioned a Jawhar Navodaya Vidyalayaat Laxmipur block of Pecharthal. The construction for the propsed project would start soon, he added.

In the meantime, the Chief Minister also held a meeting with the officials concerned and reviewed the law and order situation in Unakoti district. The Chief Minister said he was satisfied with the way the administration was functioning to maintain the law and order.

In today’s rally, local Congress leader Debashis Sen along with few others joined the BJP in presence of the Chief Minister. Minister Santana Chakma, deputy speaker Biswabandhu Sen and local leaders were present in the rally.
