Bru IDPs demand job reservation in Tripura

Bru-Reang-IDPs-job-TripuraNow, the Bru Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have demanded job reservation. In a memorandum submitted to Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha by five organizations representing the Bru IDPs made the demand.

 

Notably, the demand has been raised at a time when the resettlement process of the Bru IDPs who were evicted from their native place in Mizoram around 25 years ago is progressing at various places in Tripura.

 

Leaders of five Bru bodies – MBDPF, MBIDM, MBDPCC, BTDS and BDWO – led by Bru leaders led by MBDPF president A Sawibunga and general secretary Bruno Msha placed an 11-point demand list including demand for the job reservation for the Bru IDPs. They also demanded an arrangement of vocational training for Bru IDP youths in various trades.

 

Apart from Job reservation and vocational training facilities, the Bru Reang leaders also demanded payment of pending cash doles which remained unpaid for the last five month, issuance of one month pending relief ration for the month of October 2019 and to approve Nabojoypara, Bikromjoypara, Nondirampara, Manu Chhailengta (purnorampara) and Anandabazar (Hazacherra) for resettlement.

 

enewstime-Bru-Reang-IDPs-job-TripuraOther demands included distribution of relief materials like blankets, mosquito nets etc., issuance of one month pending SNP rice and Dal for the inmates of the Naisingpara, Ashapara and Hazachhera relief camps, payment of vehicle bills and contingency bills, immediate enrolment of the Bru IDPs in the electoral rolls in Tripura, creation of Panchayat administration in all resettlement areas and approval of some of the left out families and all rejected families.      

 

The Bru leaders also pointed out several problems reportedly prevailing at Khahamthai, Kaskaopara, Hamsapara under Panisagar Sub-division and Ashapara under Kanchanpur sub-division in North Tripura.

 

Apart from widening of roads in these resettlement areas, Bru leaders demanded setting up of ICDS/Anganwadi centers, Government English Medium School and Non-Resident Special Training Centres (NRSTC) etc in the areas.

 

They also placed some demands relating to resettlement sites at Nobojoypara and Ashapara.
