CITU delegation gives 18-point demands list on working class welfare to Tripura CM

A delegation from the CITU Tripura state unit held a meeting with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday at the secretariat in Agartala.

During the meeting, they emphasized their 18-point charter of demands aimed at improving the well-being of the state's working-class population.

The delegation, led by former minister and CITU state leader Manik Dey, along with former MP and CITU general secretary Sankar Prasad Datta, consisted of five members.

They expressed dissatisfaction with the BJP-led coalition government, alleging that it had not adequately addressed the aspirations of the working-class people of Tripura.

In a press conference held in Agartala today, the CITU leader, Manik Dey said, "We met with Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and presented our 18-point charter of demands. The Chief Minister showed willingness to address most of our demands and assured us of taking appropriate actions."

Dey further elaborated on their concerns, saying, "We drew the Chief Minister's attention to the deteriorating conditions faced by the working-class people in the state.

Our demands included the announcement of a puja bonus for the working-class individuals, a 20% bonus for tea garden workers, and an increase in wages for the state's workforce."

The delegation also highlighted issues affecting Anganwadi, ASHA and mid-day meal workers, and pump operators.

The delegation alleged political interference is hindering their work. They expressed disappointment with the lack of a positive response from the Chief Minister on these matters.

Moreover, the delegation raised several other demands with the Chief Minister, including the establishment of a Motor Stand Development Society to benefit motor workers and the assurance of maximum employment generation for REGA and TUEP workers before the festive season.
