Drug Mafias funding TMC, ‘Joychand’ helping outsiders: Tripura CM

Trinamool Congress is sheltering infamous drug mafias of the State and the mafias are funding the TMC to run the show here, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday while addressing a public rally at Pratapgarh in Agartala.

However, he exuded confidence that the‘Durga’ like women power of the State will foil the attempts of the unholy power mongers.

Hitting the whirlwind campaign trails, the Chief Minister also addressed rallies at Amarpur and Teliamura today.

In a hard-hitting speech, Deb said, TMC is making a futile attempt to win the confidence of self-respected citizens of Tripura with the money of drug traders of the State. TMC is trying to create a volatile situation with the help of drug mafias.

On another note, without naming anyone, Deb identified one State leader as ‘Joychand’ and said, the Joychand like leader seized the opportunity to join BJP in Tripura before the Assembly polls when leaders from different parties were joining the saffron party.

“Even after joining BJP, that leader tried to provide space to Opposition at the Banamalipur Assembly Constituency – however, good sense of people of Banamalipur prevailed who made me victorious with a record vote”, he commented referring to the ‘Joychand’.

After hiding the real face behind the veil, that leader has become active again and helping an unholy political force of other States to gain grounds here.

“Who lodged the case against the 10323 teachers?”, he asked.

He did not spare CPM and Congress – slammed both the parties. He mentioned the Ginger scam during the Left Front regime and said, leaders who were involved in the scam are out again before the Civic Body polls to woo the voters.

Deb said wrong policies of the previous government pushed a section of the youth to uncertainty who ultimately strayed away to extremism.

“Once, Dumboor was a hotbed of militancy – now the situation has changed drastically due to the pragmatic policies of the incumbent Government. Dumboor has become a major tourist spot now”, Deb said.

During his speech, the Chief Minister referred to the Prime Minister’s ‘Sab Ka Saath, Saab Ka Vikash’ vision and highlighted several welfare schemes including distribution of 1 lakh 48 thousand houses to beneficiaries in a single day.

Commenting on the pre-poll promises of BJP, Deb said most of the promises have been fulfilled and soon the promise of hiking social allowance to Rs 2000 will be met.
