Former Chief Minister of Tripura Sudhir Ranjan Majumder's wife, Milan Prabha Majumder, passed away at 9.10 am at GBP hospital in Agartala on Thursday morning. She was 71 years old and was undergoing treatment at AGMC and GBP hospital for the past few days.
She has been undergoing treatment at GB Hospital since February 5, she was sent to ICU on February 14 last.
Earlier, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb visited Milan Prabha Majumder at GB Hospital On February 6 and inquired about her health and treatment.
Deb condoled her death. In a condolence message, Deb said, “I am deeply saddened by the death of Milan Prabha Majumdar, the wife of former Chief Minister of the state Sudhir Ranjan Majumdar. She was an equal partner in the achievements of the late Sudhir Ranjan Majumdar in the interest of the state as the Chief Minister.”
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma rushed to GB Hospital. He paid homage to the late Milan Prabha Majumdar.
Milan Prabha Majumder was known as a social worker, Dev Varma said.
Later the body was brought to his residence. State BJP president Dr Manik Saha said she succumbed despite sincere efforts by the doctors. He expressed his condolences and extended sympathy to the family.
Mayor Dipak Majumder also rushed after receiving the news. He was acquainted with Sudhir Ranjan Majumdar's family since 1986. Majumder also paid tributes to her mortal remains.
Meanwhile, after receiving the report of her death, Tipra Matha leader Jagadish Debbarma rushed to pay his respects and extended sympathy to bereaved family members. Secretary of Purvaudaya, an NGO, Niti Deb and other leaders also paid their respects.
