A high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at the Secretariat on the present situation of National Highways of the State under NHIDCL and PWD on Friday (November 4).
The Chief Minister directed the officials of the department to speed up the work and complete the ongoing projects within the stipulated time. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha laid special emphasis on building roads while maintaining the quality of road construction. He suggested using state-of-the-art technology in building national highways and bridges.
In the review meeting, the Secretary of the Department of PWD Kiran Gitte, highlighted the report on ongoing works of national highways and bridges under NHIDCL and PWD through power point presentation.
He said currently 6 national highways are under construction in the state. These are NH-08 (old 44), NH-44-A, NH-108-A, NH-208, NH-208-A and NH-108-B. Dr Saha also informed that the construction of Gomati and Muhuri river bridges is in progress. He informed the media that the construction work of 888.81 km national highway is under progress in the whole state. Out of which, 804.81 km is under NHIDCL and 84 km is under PWD.
The Chief Minister informed the media that the construction work of 1.88 km of Feni Bridge, 48.20 km of Agartala-Udaipur National Highway, 73.70 km of Udaipur-Sabroom National Highway, 74.86 km of Churaibari-Agartala Road and 12.90 km of Khayerpur Amtali Road of Agartala bypass has been completed.
Besides Bharatmala Project, Agartala Ring Road, CRIF, NLCPR, NESRIP and IBBF projects, and different other road connectivity projects proposed by PWD were also discussed in detail in the meeting.
In the review meeting, Chief Engineer of PWD Rajib Debbarma, Additional Secretary Pradeep Acharya NHIDCL and senior officials of PWD were present and participated in the discussion.
