Panisagar violence: Tripura CM extends fin help to killed persons’ families

Referring to violence at Panisagar in North District, Tripura Chief Minister assured that administration would remain alert to prevent re-occurrence of such unwanted incident.

 

Notably two persons - Biswajit Debbarma and Srikanta Das were killed in the violence that broke out during an agitation in protest against Bru rehabillation.  

 

Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb visited houses of late fireman Biswajit Debbarma at Demdum in Unakoti district and Srikanta Das at Dasda area under North Tripura district on Sunday and assured people.

 

While expressing deep condolences, Deb handed over financial assistances to bereaved family members on behalf of the Government.

 

Both Biswajit Debbarma and Srikanta Das were killed during an anti-Bru resettlement stir at Panisagar last month. Biswajit Debbarma – a fire service personnel - was lynched by a mob and Srikanta Das – an agitator - was killed in a Police firing.

 

The Chief Minister also visited the house of Gokul Chandra Das, who sustained bullet injury on his leg in the same incident.

 

While visiting Biswajit’s residence at Demdum ADC village, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma, Forest minister Mevar Kumar Jamatia and MP Rebati Tripura handed over an offer letter to deceased’s wife. She got a job under Fire Service department.  Deb also gave two cheques amounting each Rs. 2.5 lakh to slain Biswajit’s mother and the widow.

 

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also assured all possible assistance to the bereaved family, specially to the deceased’s daughter for her career. During the Chief Minister’s visit, two MLAs- Sudhangshu Das and Bhagaban Das were also present.

 

The Chief Minister’s next visit was at the house of Srikanta Das who lost his life in police firing in the Panisagar incident on November 21 last.

 

While expressing sympathy to the bereaved family at Gourisankarpur under Dasda block in Kanchanpur, Deb extended financial assistance-- cheque of Rs. 5 lakh—to the widow Shila Das. He also assured them of extending all possible support on behalf of the government.

 

In the meantime, the Chief Minister also paid a visit to the house of another victim- Gokul Chandra Das, who received bullet injury, at Gourisankarpur. While interacting with the injured person and his family, Deb assured that the state government would bear all the medical expenditure for Das’ treatment. In this context, the family of the injured persons was asked to keep all the papers ready.
