PM Modi stresses on building foundation of unity in linguistic diversity: Tripura CM Dr Saha

Our country is a country of people speaking many languages. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized on building the foundation of unity in this linguistic diversity, Chief Minister of Tripura Dr Manik Saha adding that the Prime Minister was encouraging the people of the country to show respect to all languages.

Dr Saha was speaking at the state-level event organized to celebrate the Indian Language Day at the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala on Monday. 

In this event organized by the Education Department, the Chief Minister also said that the central government has decided to celebrate Indian Language Day on December 11 every year on the birthday of the famous Tamil poet Subramaniam Bharati. 

Subramaniam Bharati was not only a poet. He was a distinguished journalist and freedom fighter.

According to the instructions of the Education Ministry, Indian Language Day is also being celebrated in various states of the country today.

In the event, Dr Saha said although the people of different states of the country have different linguistic and cultural differences, our only identity is that we are Indians. One India, the best India can be built through linguistic unity as well as cultural unity. 

"Through the programs like "Har Ghar Tiranga", "Meri Mati Meri Desh" propagated by the Prime Minister of the country, the feeling of oneness has awakened among the people of the country. We all have to take responsibility to carry forward this feeling", he pointed out.

Secretary of the Education Department Ravel Hemendra Kumar said the Ministry of Education of the central government has decided to celebrate the birthday of the famous Tamil poet Subramaniam Bharati as Indian Language Day on December 11 every year from this year. The theme of this year's Indian Language Day is "Many languages, one thought".

As part of the celebration of Indian Language Day, various programs have been organized in various schools, colleges and other educational institutions across the country since September 28. 

In the state too, various programs were organized at the district and state level to celebrate Indian Language Day. This included online essay competitions, talk shows, publication of booklets, cultural programs, etc. The 75-day program is coming to an end with the celebration of Indian Language Day today.

Director of the Higher Education Department, N C Sharma also spoke on the occasion. The winners of the state-level online essay competition were awarded on the stage of the event. 

The Chief Minister, along with other guests of the event, handed over trophies and certificates to the prize winners. Students from various schools participated in a beautiful cultural program on patriotic thoughts in the event.
