Retired Tripura IG, Arindam Nath, Passes Away in Bengaluru

Renowned retired Inspector General of Tripura Police, Arindam Nath, breathed his last at the Narayan Hridayalay Hospital in Bengaluru early this morning. 

The 62-year-old police officer had been battling a serious ailment for several weeks. He was admitted to a private hospital in Agartala and later was airlifted to Bengaluru. Despite the medical intervention, he finally lost the battle today morning. 

As the news of his demise spread, people from different walks of life expressed deep shock. Netizens shared memories of the Nath and expressed deep sorrow.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha also expressed grief. In a social media post, Dr Saha wrote, "I am deeply saddened by the sudden demise of the retired IPS officer and eminent writer of our state, Mr. Arindam Nath".

"As a successful police officer, his dedication to duty and his exceptional contributions to literature will always be remembered by the people of our state. I pray for the eternal peace of his departed soul. Om Shanti..."

Nath, a native of North Tripura, had a distinguished career in the Tripura Police Service (TPS).

Known for his integrity and dedication, he played a crucial role in combating insurgency and curbing criminal activities in the state.

Rising through the ranks from Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to Inspector General (IG), Nath was also conferred the Indian Police Service (IPS) status.

He retired from active service in 2022 but was granted a one-year extension.

Beyond his police duties, Nath was a prolific writer. His insightful book, "From Mahabharata to Bharat," garnered widespread acclaim and cemented his reputation as a perceptive observer of society. He was also an active member of various cultural organizations, including the Tripura Rabindra Parishad.
