Tripura CM hails Teachers' Role in Education at 62nd Teachers’ Day Celebration

Chief Minister of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha delivered a heartfelt tribute to the invaluable role of teachers in shaping the nation's future during the 62nd Teachers’ Day celebration held in Agartala on Tuesday. The event, organized by the Education Department, was attended by educators and dignitaries to commemorate the occasion.

Highlighting the significance of Teachers’ Day, Dr. Saha traced its origins back to the renowned philosopher and former President, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who insisted that his birthday be dedicated to celebrating teachers. He underscored the profound impact teachers have in inspiring individuals and driving the pursuit of quality education.

In his address, Dr. Manik Saha acknowledged that mothers play an essential role as the first educators. He also lauded Prime Minister Modi's vision, emphasizing that knowledge is the driving force for the country's advancement.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) after a 34-year gap and commended the adoption of NEP in Tripura.

He praised Prime Minister Modi's relentless dedication to the nation's development and emphasized that quality education is the cornerstone of progress, with teachers as crucial catalysts in achieving this goal.

Dr. Saha affirmed the Tripura government's unwavering commitment to providing quality education in the state, as demonstrated by the allocation of funds in the 2023-24 state budget.

He announced the establishment of one model school in each Rural Development Block, with a substantial allocation of Rs 50 crore, as part of the government's efforts to bolster education and benefit students across Tripura.

During the celebration, four distinguished individuals were honored for their exceptional contributions to society.

Dr. Kanak Narayan Bhattacharya and his team from Agartala Government Medical College were presented with the "Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar Samman 2023." The late Nagendra Jamatia was posthumously recognized with the "Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Samman 2023," and the honor was received by his son, Dr. Kahmanuk Jamatia. Eminent personality Sahisnu Jamatia was conferred with the "Maharani Tulsibati Samman- 2023," while renowned social activist Bhishma Gupta was honored with the "Dr. Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Honor - 2023."

The event was attended by prominent figures including Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, School Education Department Special Secretary Revel Hemendra Kumar, Higher Education Department Director NC Sharma, and various other distinguished guests.
