Tripura : CM inaugurates First-ever Integrated Pack House in Nagichhara

Farmers are the bread keepers and the backbone of the country. The incumbent central and state governments under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are determined toward the socio-economic development of the farmers, said Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha after inaugurating the first-ever Integrated Pack House in the state on June 28. The facility has been set up at Nagicherra Research Centre near Agartala under the West Tripura District.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Kailash Choudhary and Agriculture Minister of Tripura, Pranajit Singha Roy were also present along with the Chief Minister during the programme.

Tripura-Nagichhara-Integrated-Pack-houseThe Chief Minister said, the farmers were not given proper dignity for their produced crops in the earlier days. A new Pack House has been constructed now so that the farmers may get a proper price of their crops and so that the crops are stored properly, through which farmers will find it convenient while marketing their crops. Plans are there to construct more such Pack Houses in future.

He said, 14.50 MT of the horticultural crop is produced in a year in the state. At present, different kinds of spices are also being produced in Tripura which are gaining popularity even outside the state. Queen pineapples, jackfruits, and scented lemons are being exported in other places of the country and abroad.

The state government has taken different initiatives for the expansion of state-grown crops at the National and International levels. Paddy is being procured from the farmers in the state at a Minimum Support Price. The farmers are benefitting through this.

He said, the youth of the state are now gaining interest in becoming self-reliant based on agriculture.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Kailash Choudhary said, the farmers of the state earlier had to face problems regarding storing and marketing of their crops. This problem will now be solved through this Pack House.

 The government will take initiative to set up such Pack House in each district of the state in future. He said, the fanners are getting proper prices for their produced crops after this government was formed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The farmers are now successfully becoming self-reliant.

The present central government has increased the budget to six times in the Agriculture sector. He said, the farmers are being provided with financial assistance directly to their bank accounts through PMKISAN scheme. Advanced technology is being adopted for the betterment of the agriculture sector and the farmers. New plans are being taken for farmers' welfare. Drone technology is being used in the agriculture sector. He called on all the farmers to avail facilities from different farmer welfare schemes.

Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister of Tripura Pranajit Singha Roy said, initiatives have been taken to double farmers' income by 2022 across the nation. Different plans are being taken for farmers' welfare. New markets are being created so that the farmers get the right price for their crops. The Pineapples and Jackfruits of the state are being exported abroad. The farmers are being given proper dignity under the leadership of the Prime Minister.

The welcome speech was delivered by Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare department Apurba Roy. A vote of thanks was delivered by Deputy Director of Horticulture & Soil Conservation department Dr. Rajib Ghosh. Director of Horticulture & Soil Conservation department Phani Bhushan Jamatia was also present during the programme.
