Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha met with three Union Ministers in New Delhi on Monday (April 24) to discuss several important issues, including air connectivity, women and child development and trade.
During his meeting with Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia, the Chief Minister highlighted several pending proposals and requested the declaration of Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala, as an international airport.
He placed demands for the installation of Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya's statue at the new airport terminal, and the introduction of direct flight connectivity from Agartala to Mumbai and Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister also demanded the operation of night flights and the reintroduction of air cargo services from MBB Airport.
Besides, the discussions with the Union Aviation Minister covered the issue of operationalization of the existing Kailashahar Airport, construction of heliports in six tourist locations, and the development of the Greenfield Airport at Hiracherra.

The Chief also met with Union Minister Smriti Irani. The Chief Minister discussed with Smriti Irani the setting up of a 100-Bedded Multi Specialty Hospital in Agartala for women and children. He also demanded the sanction of three new ICDS projects for three aspirational blocks- Raishyabari, Silachari, and Ganganagar in Tripura. He proposed the enhancement/revision of cost norms for supplementary nutrition under the Anganwadi Centres, operationalization of non-operational AWCs, and funds for the renovation of existing AWCs.
The Chief Minister also requested both Union Ministers for approval of the state's pending proposals in their respective ministries.
Dr Manik Saha also met with Union Minister Piyush Goyal at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. They talked about various issues of development including the scope of Trade in Tripura.
