Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has rooted for private investment as a key to boost the industry sector in Tripura.
“Industrial growth is required for all-round development of the state and private investment is key to strengthen the industry sector,” Deb said this after inaugurating 31st Industries and Commerce Fair at Hapania international exhibition hall on Friday.
He said that after the formation of the BJP-IPFT government, several changes were made to simplify the process to set up industrial units.
“A good number of small industries have invested Rs. 120 crore in Tripura over the past 32 months,” Deb told the gathering while encouraging the new investors.
In the meantime, Deb said around Rs. 1100 crore would be invested to revive the rubber sector in the entire North East and Tripura would get the maximum benefit. There would be new rubber plantations on 50,000 hectare land, he said.
Deb also claimed that after a long time Tripura Industrial Development Corporation, Tripura Tea Development Corporation, Tripura Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation and Tripura Khadi Gramodyog Board among other units had registered profits following proper utilization of local resources.
