Buoyed at the successful open-heart surgery, neurosurgery and knee replacement, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb is eyeing to steer the health of sector of Tripura to a new height by further harnessing the health infrastructure and appointment of Specialists for other advanced medical facilities like bone marrow transplant, Liver and Kidney transplants.
While chairing a meeting with the top-level health officials of the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) on Sunday, Deb pitched for introduction of bone marrow, liver and Kidney transplants as well as also directed the health officials to conduct research works on identified kidney patients to know the reasons that caused the disease and ways to address the issue.
Deb also urged the Specialist doctors of Tripura who are successfully working in other States to engage them in improving the health care delivery system of the State.
The Chief Minister also stressed ensuring proper delivery of services to citizens and suggested that all the personnel – from the top-level officers of the State government to the last level staff – must have a clear idea of the government’s target and planning for the future.
In the meeting, Deb also inquired about the progress of different plans initiated by the government for augmenting the health care system.
Besides, the Chief Minister also focused on increasing the availability of generic medicines as well as expanding the scope of its use. He also held discussions with the officials on plans to slash the cost of such medicines through discounts.
Among others, Director of the Health department Subhashish Debbarma, Medical Superintendent Sanjib Debbarma and Director of Medical Education Chinmoy Biswas were present in the meeting.
Before taking part in the meeting, Deb met the ailing Baharul Islam Majumder, the chairman of the state Waqf board in the hospital and inquired about his health. He also met the relatives of Majumder.
