Tripura CM tells retrenched 10323 teachers to have patience

A ray of hope for the axed 10323 teachers of Tripura emerged as Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha urged the retrenched teachers to have patience.

Interacting with the media, Dr Saha urged the axed teachers to have patience and faith on the Government which is trying to resolve the matter.

Dr Saha said the State government is in touch with the legal experts and exploring ways to sort out 10323 terminated teachers' issue.

The terminated 10323 teachers' groups are conducting agitation after they lost their jobs due to Court verdict. A group of teachers are holding fasting agitation in Agartala now.

The verdict of job termination was given by the High Court of Tripura which was, later, upheld by the Apex Court.

However, according to the agitating retrenched teachers, "The RTI of the Supreme Court has clarified that not all 10,323 teachers were a party to the judgement and only a few number of teachers’ jobs were challenged”.

Based on this, the terminated teachers are demanding to be reinstated in the job.

When media persons asked about Government's stand regarding the axed 10323 teachers, the Chief Minister said discussions with the legal experts are on. He said while addressing the issue, it is important to ensure that there is no contempt of Court.

In the poll bound Tripura, the incumbent government is trying to win hearts of every section of society. The Government recently announced 12 per cent DA - a highest ver - for State government employees, part time and such other staffs of government institutions.

After raising Social Allowance to Rs 2000, the government also hiked remuneration of ASHA and Anganwadi workers. Pension of Home Guards, a long standing demand, was also addressed recently along with a hike in salary of Home Guards.

In the backdrop of such initiatives of the BJP-led Government, Dr Saha's statement that the government is trying to do something for the axed teachers has brought a hope for the 10323 teachers group.

With the Assembly Elections ensuing and the last Cabinet meeting likely to be held on January 10, tension and hope among the retrenched teachers are palpable.

And all eyes are now focused on scheduled January 10 cabinet meeting.
