Tripura News: Sheikh Hasina sends mangoes as goodwill gesture to Tripura CM

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has received a consignment of mangoes sent by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.

Sheikh Hasina sent 300kg mangoes to Biplab Kumar Deb as a goodwill gesture on today. Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Agartala, Jobayed Hosen handed over the gift to the Chief Minister at Secretariat in Agartala today evening.

Reacting after receiving the gift, Biplab Kumar Deb wrote in his social media handle, “I am overwhelmed after receiving the gift from Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina. Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh Jobayed Hosen came to the Secretariat today and handed over the mango sent by Hasinaji. I would like to thank the Hon'ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh. I wish that the India-Bangladesh alliance under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji would remain intact”.

The Haribhanga variety of mangoes, grown mainly in Rangpur district of Bangladesh, arrived in Agartala through the Akhaura Integrated Check Post (ICP) today and later, was delivered to the Chief Minister as a mark of cordial bi-lateral relationships between the two countries.      

Notably, The Bangladesh Prime Minister also sent mangoes of Haribhanga variety to her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.

The gift from Sheikh Hasina came at a time when both India and Bangladesh are celebrating the 50 years of Bangladesh Liberation War 1971. During the war, people of Tripura also extended fullest support to Bangladesh. People of Tripura provided shelter, food and medical assistance to Mukti Yuddha of Bangladesh. Based on mutual interests, bi-lateral relationships between Bangladesh and India continued to improve.
