December 4, 2018: The ally of ruling Government in Tripura, IPFT has called off its 12 hour strike scheduled to be observed on tomorrow (December 5). The strike was called in support of three-point charter of demands.
Announcing the decision to withdraw the dawn to dusk strike, IPFT spokesperson Mangal Debbarma, said in a press meet today evening at Agartala Press Club that the decision was taken after a high level meeting held at secretariat. “Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, revenue minister NC Debbarma, and other senior ministers were present in the meeting”, he said.
In the meeting Chief Minister appealed the IPFT leaders to withdraw the strike and assured them that the government would take initiative for holding election in 1500 vacant village committee seats. After getting assurance from the Chief Minister, IPFT decided to call off the strike, said the IPFT spokesman.
BJP spokeperson Nabendu Bhattacherjee said, that BJP welcomed the IPFT decision.“It is a matter of satisfaction that the IPFT kept the Chief Minister’s appeal to them”, he said.
IPFT and its allied organization had earlier called 12 hour in the whole of TTAADC areas tomorrow from dawn to dusk supporting three-point charter of demands – rolling back of The Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, attainment of Tipraland and immediate by-election in vacant Village Committee’s seats.
