Cong shake-up: Falerio relieved, Kuljit Singh Nagra new Tripura in-charge

AICC general secretary and Tripura in-charge Luizinho Falerio had been relieved from his duties on Friday by the AICC after rounds of standoff between the TPCC and Falerio regarding some important PCC decisions. Punjab Congress leader Kuljit Singha Nagra had been appointed as the new TPCC in-charge in his place.

This new appointment was among the 17 new appointments made by the AICC on Friday but for the TPCC leaders it had been a sense of relief as Falrio stood as one of the major impediments in the way of Tripura Pradesh Congress, sources close to TPCC president Pijush Biswas said.

Biswas, however, reacting on the issue congratulated the new leadership and hoped that his presence would surely strengthen the Congress party in future.

Sources in the Congress also said, this new appointment has also smoothened the way for a fresh political alliance between Congress and former Tripura Pradesh Congress president’s newly floated “Twipra Motha” which is expected to enter mainstream politics in the ensuing ADC elections.

As soon as Falerio was relieved, talks between both organizations reported to have been initiated. Some of the sources said, “Falerio emerged as the biggest hurdle in bridging the gaps between TPCC and Pradyot. Since he quit the party due to internecine strife prompted by some TPCC leaders under the aegis of Falrio, he has shown reluctance to come back in the Congress fold. But as soon as Falerio is removed, Pradyot and Pijsuh who are known to be close to each other since long are once again trying to bring in a strong political front together.”
