In a historic milestone for Tripura, the state will host a national-level football match under floodlights as part of the prestigious 78th Santosh Trophy tournament.
The much anticipated event will see Tripura face off against Mizoram in a Group D match set to kick off at 4 pm on November 15 at the Umakanta Mini Stadium.
This match marks the second game in Group D, following an earlier 9 am contest between Sikkim and Manipur. Originally, all six matches in this four-team group were scheduled as daytime events.
However, due to high fan enthusiasm and following successful upgrades to the stadium's lighting, the match commissioner and referee assessed the floodlights as meeting standards.
With approval from the All India Football Federation, the decision was made to host the final three matches under the lights.
