Ray of Hope for Bolehar in Tripura: Minister Intervenes to Resolve Decades-Old Road Crisis

A ray of hope has finally dawned upon the 300 families of Bolehar village, located in Ward No. 6 of Kailashahar’s Jalai Gram Panchayat. For four decades, the villagers have been grappling with the lack of proper road infrastructure.

Their only access route, a narrow three-foot-wide road, has been the lifeline for the community since the village's establishment. However, its width has always been a severe constraint, making it impossible for any vehicle, including ambulances, to enter the village.

This has not only impacted emergency services but has also been a major setback for the local farmers, who constitute 90% of the population and depend on agriculture for their livelihood.

The situation worsened over the years as the adjacent Manu River continued to erode the road, shrinking it further and leaving the villagers more isolated. Despite countless pleas to political leaders and administrative officials over the years, no concrete action was taken. This long-standing neglect fueled frustration and despair among the villagers.

Tripura-Minister-Tinku-Roy-Road-crisisMinister Tinku Roy, during a visit to Bolehar to inspect the river erosion, was confronted by the villagers.

They passionately conveyed their struggles and urged the minister to widen the road.

Moved by their plight, Minister Roy not only assured them of action but also took immediate steps to address the issue.

The minister directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to survey the area and prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR). Following this, the PWD conducted multiple surveys and finalized the DPR, marking the beginning of a long-overdue project.

Initially, the project faced challenges due to disputes over land required for the road expansion. To resolve these issues, Minister Roy returned to the village, accompanied by senior PWD officials, including Executive Engineer Pradeep Ranjan Das, Panchayat Head Paritosh Dey, Deputy Head Binendra Mahisya Das, and other key officials like Pranab Das and Debapriya Sinha.

A community meeting was held where the villagers and officials collaboratively addressed the land issues. The minister’s proactive engagement and problem-solving approach not only resolved the disputes but also boosted the morale of the villagers.

After resolving the hurdles, the minister and his team inspected the three-kilometer-long stretch of the road. Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Minister Tinku Roy expressed optimism about the project. “The long-standing dream of Bolehar villagers is finally coming true. The road expansion work will begin shortly, and all preparations have been completed by the concerned department,” he said.

This development is expected to bring transformative changes, especially for the farming community, who will be able to transport their produce directly to markets, reducing losses and increasing profits after widening of the road.
