Healthy Holi: Tripura CM urges to use locally produced herbal abir

Tripura-CM-Herbal-abir-HoliAs the country is gearing up to celebrate Holi, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb urged the people to use organic colours produced avoiding the chemical abir for a healthy holi.

“Herbal Abir is now being produced in Tripura to keep the joyous and colourful Holi celebration healthy and free from harmful chemicals”, Deb said after launching organic abir for Holi and other products of a Self Help Group of Laxmibil Gram Panchayat in Sepahijala District on Sunday.

He appealed to people to use the herbal abir and said, “Let's buy festival products from our beloved artisans & promote Hon PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji's vision of #VocalForLocal”.

In this connection, Deb referred to the state government’s endeavour to empower women and said women have been encouraged in the professional sphere owing to several facilities provided by the government like providing financial assistance, opportunity to sell products in Ration shops, loans on easy terms etc.

The Chief Minister said women of the Laxmibil Gram Panchayat SHG were upskilled through Government-sponsored training and inspired by the idea of being self-reliant, the women are producing herbal abir along with accomplishing household activities.

“These women are becoming self-reliant by making herbal abir as well as creating earning opportunities for other people”, he commented.

Manufacturing of the herbal abir is also easy to find as it requires locally available herbal products including residuals of Carrots, beetroot, spinach leaves, flat beans leaves, Cabbage and flowers like Marigold, purple coloured Nilkantha and Palash.

The Chief Minister also revealed the marketing of the herbal abir. He said, initially the products would be sold through Societies. Deb also urged other SHGs to come forward and start herbal abir production for an earning.
