International Day of the World's Indigenous People : Tripura CM, Dy CM greet Janajati people

International-Day-World-Indigenous-people-tripura-CMThe International Day of the World's Indigenous People is the day to ponder over the economic, social, cultural and linguistic development of the Janajati people of the nation.

 

On this occasion, I wish and congratulate the people of every Janajati community in the country, said Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha while participating a programme in Agartala to mark the World Indigenous Day on Tuesday (Aug 9).

 

The International Day of the World's Indigenous People was celebrated throughout various programmes across Tripura on Tuesday. Political parties brought colourful rallies in different parts of the State to mark the day.

 

Notably, the International Day of the World's Indigenous People is observed every year on 9 August to generate awareness and to safeguard the rights of the world's indigenous population. This Day also recognizes the achievements and contributions that indigenous people make for the environmental protection.

 

The theme of World Indigenous Day is The Role of Indigenous Women in the Preservation and Transmission of Traditional Knowledge.

 

The Janajati Morcha on Tuesday celebrated the International Day of the World's Indigenous People at BJP state headquarters in Agartala.

 

Enewstime-International-Day-World-Indigenous-people-tripura-CMChief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and other party leaders took part in the programme.

 

The Chief Minister greeted the Janajati people on this day and said the government is committed for socio-economic development of the Janajati section.

 

Dr Saha batted for harmony and peace for accelerated development in the State. In his speech, Dr Saha also outlined the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the holistic development of the people. To this end, he also referred to recently held Niti Aayog meeting which was chaired by the Prime Minister.

 

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma also greeted the Janajati people and extended his deep appreciation to the Janajati Morcha for organising this meaningful programme.

Meanwhile, the TTAADC administration organized a colourful rally with janajati people wearing traditional attire to mark the International Day of World Indigenous Peoples at Khumulwng. Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma addressed a gathering on this occasion.
