LPAI to Launch Landmark Land Port Management System at Agartala ICP on Nov 26

In a landmark initiative to revolutionize cross-border trade and bolster security, the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) is set to launch the Land Port Management System (LPMS) at Agartala ICP on the 26th of November 2024. The inauguration, taking place in Agartala, Tripura will be led by Shri Aditya Mishra, IPS, Chairman of LPAI.

The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) proudly operates three state-of-the-art land ports in the state of Tripura, bordering Bangladesh—Agartala, Srimantarpur, and Sabroom—each playing a pivotal role in enhancing cross border trade and connectivity. The Agartala land port, inaugurated on November 17, 2013, stands out as a critical hub within the municipal area close to the capital city, streamlining the cross-border flow of goods and people.

Echoing the functionality of its counterpart Akhaura in Bangladesh, Agartala's land port is a beacon for export-import and transit activities, establishing itself as the second busiest trade conduit between India and Bangladesh after Petrapole-Benapole, with a commendable trade volume of INR 318 crores recorded in FY 2023-24. This infrastructure not only bolsters bilateral trade but also fosters regional cooperation, setting the stage for the upcoming launch of the Land Port Management System (LPMS).

The Land Ports Authority of India, operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is dedicated to enhancing the infrastructure at India's borders, with a focus on security and the facilitation of trade and people's movement.

The LPMS represents a significant technological advancement, offering a Single Window system that embodies the concept of infinite possibilities. By integrating smart technology and seamless processes, the system is designed to digitize port operations, enabling functionalities such as slot booking, integrated payments, streamlined regulatory approvals and automation of port operations through a single platform.

This innovative system is poised to reduce logistics costs, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure security and compliance at India's land ports. The LPMS will serve as a catalyst for economic growth, fostering regional connectivity and cooperation, and positioning India's land ports as strategic gateways for trade and connectivity with the South Asian region.
