A six-member team from NCERT recently visited Tripura to conduct the Vidya Pravesh Evaluation, expressing high praise for the effective implementation of the NIPUN mission in the state. The team traveled across multiple districts to evaluate the program and monitor NIPUN’s progress, delighted by the mission-driven advancement among young learners.
They specifically commended the NIPUN cell and the education department, particularly appreciating the presence of dedicated "NIPUN corners" in all schools, which are enriched with quality Teaching Learning Materials (TLM). The evaluators also noted the prominent display of NIPUN Lakshyas and the NIPUN Pledge in each school, applauding the state’s organization of TLM exhibitions, creation of student workbooks, and development of a comprehensive NIPUN Handbook.
After completing the evaluation, the NCERT team met with NIPUN coordinators and field investigators. The meeting, chaired by Director of Elementary Education N.C. Sharma and attended by State Nodal Officer of the NIPUN mission, Abhijit Samajpati, featured positive feedback from the NCERT team lead, Prof. Dr. K. Vijayan.
He commended the NIPUN Cell for its innovative and effective strategies, stating, “The NIPUN Cell is doing wonderful work and is taking commendable initiatives for successful mission implementation.” The other NCERT team members included Dr. Melissa Wallong, Dr. Shalini Dixit, Dr. Anand Arya, Dr. Shanmugam Vasha, and Dr. Tarun Kaushik.
From November 5-7, the endline of the Vidya Pravesh Evaluation was conducted, assessing sampled Class I students across districts. These hands-on activities provided insights into the students' problem-solving abilities and comprehension levels. Vidya Pravesh is an NCERT-designed program adapted by Tripura as "Vidya Setu," a nine-week bridge course tailored for Class I students transitioning from various institutions, including government schools, private schools, Anganwadi centers, or home. This module helps create a uniform learning foundation for diverse groups of students, enabling them to engage with grade-appropriate curricula effectively.
To gauge Vidya Setu’s impact and assess student progress, NCERT conducted this statewide endline study following an initial baseline evaluation in June. The team noted consistent satisfaction with Tripura’s proactive approach in implementing the NIPUN mission.
