On eve of R-day, Tripura Students Shine on National Stage, Honored with Veer Gatha Awards

In a remarkable achievement that has brought pride to Tripura, four students have made their mark on the national stage by securing spots in the top 100 of the prestigious 'Veer Gatha' program. This initiative, a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education, saw participation from over 1.7 crore students across more than 2.5 lakh schools nationwide.

The four students of the State - Hridam Roy, Sagar Deb Barma, Megraj Debroy, and Ishika Shil excelled in various categories of the program, showcasing their talents in essay writing, poetry, and art.

Their achievements were celebrated during an award ceremony held at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) auditorium in New Delhi on January 25. The event, attended by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and senior officials of the Indian Army, was a proud moment for the young achievers and their state.

In his address, Raksha Mantri congratulated the winners and appreciated the joint efforts of Ministry of Defence & Ministry of Education towards achieving Veer Gatha’s objective of connecting the youth with the glorious history of the country’s bravehearts. He acknowledged the pan-India participation of over 1.76 crore students in this fourth edition of the Project, stating that it is providing recognition to the bravehearts through education. He commended the intelligence, enthusiasm and patriotism of the students who participated in the competition.

Tripura students Veer GathaAmong the awardees, Sagar Deb Barma from Eklavya Model Residential School, Khumulwng, and Hridam Roy from Shree Krishna Mission School, Agartala, stood out for their exceptional essays. Meanwhile, Megraj Debroy from Ramakrishna Mission School Viveknagar, Amtali, impressed with his artistic talent, and Ishika Shil from Teliamura Higher Secondary School, Khowai, shone in the poetry competition.

Tinku Roy, Tripura's Social Welfare Minister, congratulated the young talents for their outstanding accomplishments. Notably, one of the awardees, Hridam Roy, is the Minister's son.

The Veer Gatha program, launched in 2021, aims to honor the bravery and sacrifices of India's soldiers by inspiring young minds through creative expression. The participation and success of Tripura's students in this initiative underscore their talent and determination.

Educators and citizens across the state have hailed this success as a milestone for Tripura, emphasizing that the achievements of these four students will inspire others to dream big and aim high.
