A day after the announcement of Assembly by-polls in Tripura, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday held an important meeting in presence of BJP central observer Vinod Sonkar to discuss strategies for the by-elections to four seats scheduled to be conducted on June 23 next.
Apart from reviewing the party’s preparedness, Dr. Saha, who is also state president of BJP, is reported to have discussed the possible candidates for the ensuing by-polls.
Three ministers- Ratanlal Nath, Ram Prasad Paul and Sushanta Chowdhury along with BJP state vice-president Rajib Bhattacharjee and general secretaries- Kishore Barman and Papia Dutta were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb who is at present in Hyderabad couldn’t attend the meeting.
Sonkar met IPFT chief and Revenue minister N.C. Debbarma on Thursday.
CM demands extension of rail network in Tripura
As part of his Delhi visit, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha along with his wife Swapna Saha met two central ministers on Thursday.
During his meeting with Minister for Railways AshwiniVaishnaw at Rail Bhavan, Dr. Saha requested for expediting the pace of development projects and also held brief discussions on further extension of railway network in Tripura.
“Today, I met Union Railways, Communications, Electronics & IT Minister Hon'ble Shri @AshwiniVaishnawJi in the Rail Bhawan for a courtesy visit. Requested him to expedite the pace of developmental projects & further extension of railway network in Tripura,” Dr. Saha tweeted.
According to Dr. Saha, in his meeting with Minister for Rural Development and Panchayeti Raj- Giriraj Singh, several matters including MGNREGA implementation, PradhanMantriGraminSadak Yojana and other centrally-sponsored projects were discussed.
Later, the Union Minister mentioned in a Facebook Post that he had assured the Chief Minister of all possible assistance.
“Met Hon’ble CM Tripura today morning at Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi. Discussed on various developmental issues with Hon CM. Development of Rural Tripura is our commitment and have assured him of all possible support,” Singh wrote on Facebook.
