Tripura CM Dr Saha Meets PM Modi and other Ministers, Seeks Key Project Approvals

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several union ministers in New Delhi on Thursday following the formation of the Modi-led government 3.0.

During his discussions with the Prime Minister, Dr. Saha presented a detailed set of proposals aimed at enhancing Tripura's development. 

Among the key proposals were plans for improved international connectivity and trade, including the establishment of a new international rail link from Belonia in Tripura to Feni in Bangladesh, and Indo-Bangladesh connectivity via Maitri Bridge.

Dr. Saha also proposed granting international status to Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala, converting single rail lines to double tracks, and including the Sabroom-Ramgarh-Chittagong and Sabroom-Ramgarh-Mongla routes as protocol routes for transit and transshipment.

He also proposed setting up an Agar International Trade and Research Centre in Agartala.

Further topics included the construction of 15 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools, resolving pending negotiations with the Department of Economic Affairs for World Bank-assisted projects, addressing issues with the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), and lifting the embargo on exporting value-added products to Bangladesh.

Tripura-CM-Amit-Shah-IR-BattalionDr. Saha also requested facilitating the purchase of gas from GAIL at lower prices and increasing grants under the Central Finance Commission.

In a meeting at the new parliament building, Dr. Saha congratulated the Prime Minister on his third consecutive term as Pradhan Sevak and discussed development initiatives for the state in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat.

The Chief Minister also met with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, requesting the transfer of GREF land to the state and the establishment of Sainik Schools at Assam Rifles land in Teliamura and Udaipur.

During his discussion with Home Minister Amit Shah, Dr. Saha proposed sanctioning two additional IR battalions for Tripura, releasing funds under Security Related Expenditure, and providing resources for the seizure, sampling, storage, and disposal of NDPS items.

Dr. Saha also met with Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda to propose the establishment of an AIIMS-like institute and a medical college in Kulai under the Dhalai District.

He sought a one-time special grant to maintain uninterrupted National Ambulance Services and to extend the Regional Geriatric Centre Project.

Besides, the Chief Minister called on Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu and met with Padma Shri Chitta Maharaj of Shantikali Ashram at Tripura Bhavan.
