A grand Tiranga Rally was held in Agartala on Friday (Aug 12) to sensitize people about ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
The Grand Tiranga rally under aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was led by Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and was organized by the ICA department aiming at encouraging people to hoist the tricolor to mark the 75th years of Independence.
According to the ICA Minister, target has been taken to hoist more than 5 lakh National Flags in the state under the campaign.
With tricolor in hands, along with Dr Saha, ex-Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, MoS Pratima Bhoumik, MP Rebati Tripura, ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, other Ministers, MLAs, Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder and dignitaries walked in the Tiranga Rally today.
Crowd swelled as the rally roamed around the city and large number of people including the security personnel walked in the grand rally waving the tricolor.
The rally started from Gandhi Statue near the Circuit House and moved on towards Radhanagar. Everyone was holding a tricolor high and raised slogans hailing the Bharat Mata. With cool breeze blowing over, a wave of saffron, white and green created a mesmerizing scene. Traversing through North Gate, the rally ended at iconic Ujjayanta Palace premises.
\While speaking to the media, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha urged every citizen of the state to celebrate ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ from August 13-15 and to hoist the National Flag from their own home. He said, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is being celebrated to strengthen patriotism through paying tribute to the nation heroes and their sacrifices made for the country’s independence.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to Information & Cultural Affairs department for organizing the rally.
Explaining the objective of the rally, ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is being conducted to remember and pay tribute to those who have laid their lives for the nation and to those who are presently protecting our country’s borders.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and other dignitaries later flew 75 tri-colored balloons to the sky at Ujjayanta Palace premises and ended the rally.
