Tripura CM seeks Niti Aayog's help on exporting finished rubber to B'desh

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha held an important meeting with a visiting five-member Niti Aayog team led by Dr. V.K. Saraswat at the civil secretariat in Agartala on Monday.

 

Niti-Aayog-Tripura-Manik-SahaDuring discussions, the Chief Minister sought cooperation from the Niti Aayog in withdrawing the port-level restriction imposed on export of finished rubber, according to a government press release.

 

The Chief Minister said, the Act-East Policy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi accelerated the development process in the North Eastern states including Tripura.

 

He said, the Tripura government has taken initiative for development of the state by utilizing the potential sectors.

 

Niti Aayog member Saraswat mentioned about the possibilities in horticulture, floriculture and rubber sector of Tripura. He also emphasized on setting up food processing unit in the state. He also laid stress on expansion of IT in the Education sector.

 

In his interaction with the Chief Minister, the Niti Aayog official expressed his interest for establishing Centre of Excellence on rubber and bamboo. He advised the Chief Minister to give special focus on making development strategies besides taking plans.

 

Senior advisor of Niti Aayog- Rajiv Sen gave a presentation on the current position of the state, achievements, challenges, possibilities and the actions to be taken for expediting the pace of development.

 

He said, the Tripura registered significant growth in GDP following remarkable development in the Agriculture sector. He also mentioned the state’s potentials in Border Trade, Forest and Tourism. He suggested the Chief Minister pay special attention to the development of Healthcare, Agriculture, Education, MSME and Tourism sectors.

 

Tripura Chief Secretary J.K. held a brief discussion on the initiatives taken by the state government for development of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary sectors. He said, the state continues to register financial growth despite limitations. He mentioned the increase in the Per Capita Income of the people.
