Tripura CM urges maximum restraints during Durga Puja to prevent Covid spike

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb appealed to the people to maintain utmost restraint during Durga Puja and requested the media to create awareness for this.

The Chief Minister cited example of Kerala where after Onam festival as Covid 19 restrictions were not properly followed there was a huge surge in the Covid cases.

 

“We do not want such an experience here in Tripura. Doctors warned of any relaxation in following the Covid guidelines may result in disastrous consequences. I appeal to the people that they should use their self imposed restrictions in movement, gathering and puja hopping”, he said.

On another note, the Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb urged Professors, teachers, intellectuals et al must discuss in their spare time about the government policies. “It is only when they discuss the policies and come up with ideas the government could get a direction. Besides, when they share their opinion people also come to know the government policies”, he said. Deb referred to the New Education Policy where before its implementation the centre sought opinion from the general public.

“I have requested the teachers to talk about –briefly even government policies after the school prayer before the students. Such a practice will make not only the students but also their parents aware of the policies as the students are very likely talk about their teacher’s briefs to the parents.
