Tripura concluded their campaign with a defeat in the U-23 One-Day Cricket Tournament held in Baroda. In the match at the Moti Bagh Cricket Ground, Himachal Pradesh defeated Tripura by 7 wickets. Chasing Tripura's total of 285 runs, Himachal Pradesh secured the required runs in 47 overs, losing just three wickets.
For Tripura, Hrituraj Ghosh Roy scored a brilliant 112 runs, while Aryavrat from Himachal Pradesh remained unbeaten with an impressive innings.
Winning the toss on Sunday morning, Tripura opted to bat first, and opener Hrituraj Ghosh Roy delivered a scintillating century. Alongside Hrituraj, Sentu Sarkar and Durlabh Roy played pivotal roles in setting up a mountainous total for Tripura. In their allotted 50 overs, Tripura scored 285 runs, losing 7 wickets. Hrituraj faced 132 balls, hitting 8 boundaries and 3 sixes to notch up 112 runs. Scoring a century in the very first match of the tournament, Hrituraj showcased his readiness and form.
Other contributors to Tripura's innings included wicketkeeper-batsman Sentu Sarkar (46 runs off 66 balls with 5 boundaries), Durlabh Roy (41 runs off 38 balls with 6 boundaries), Anand Bhowmik (33 runs off 35 balls with 4 boundaries), and Indrajit Debnath (21 runs off 15 balls with 3 boundaries). In reply, Himachal Pradesh faced early pressure chasing Tripura’s large score. At one stage, they were teetering at 13 for 2. However, Aryavrat Sharma and captain Mridul Suroch steadied the innings. The duo forged a strong third-wicket partnership, adding 146 runs off 153 balls and reigniting their team's hopes of victory. Mridul scored 78 runs off 88 balls, hitting 8 boundaries and 1 six, before getting out.
Aryavrat then found support from Amanpreet Singh, and the pair launched a counter-attack. Remaining unbeaten, the duo secured the victory for their team with 3 overs to spare. Aryavrat scored 121 runs off 120 balls, hitting 9 boundaries and 1 six, while Amanpreet scored 74 runs off 62 balls, with 5 boundaries and 4 sixes.
For Tripura, Sandeep Sarkar claimed 2 wickets for 57 runs. Tripura’s next match in the tournament is against Vidarbha on December 17.
