In a passionate speech at the 21st district-level conference of the CPIM held in Sonamura under the Sepahijala District of Tripura, the party’s state secretary, Jitendra Chaudhury, sharply criticised the state and central governments. Speaking to party workers and supporters, Chaudhury expressed deep concern over the worsening situation in Tripura and India, highlighting the struggles faced by the people.
Chaudhury began by condemning the inhumane attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, the ongoing genocide in Palestine and Gaza, and various recent provocative incidents in Tripura. He argued that the current BJP-led government in Tripura is failing to deliver any real benefits to the people. He stressed that despite 75 years of independence, India has not yet embraced socialism, which remains a long-standing goal of the CPIM.
He criticised the current central government for using taxpayer money to promote their own interests while a few wealthy individuals continue to amass significant fortunes.
Chaudhury pointed out the stark contrast between the rich and the poor in India, highlighting that while some live in extreme wealth, many are still struggling with poverty. He also called for the distribution of essential goods at fair prices to address the needs of the common people.
Focusing on agriculture, Chaudhury urged the government to support farmers by writing off their loans and ensuring fair prices for their crops.
He also questioned the government's promises regarding unemployment, pointing out that the unemployment rate in India is at an all-time high, and the government has failed to deliver on its job creation pledges.
Manik Dey, leader of the state workers' union, also took the stage and emphasized the CPIM’s commitment to working for the people.
Dey too criticized the BJP and Congress for their focus on power, accusing them of exploiting the system for their own gain.
However, both CPIM leaders of Tripura, Chaudhury and Dey, voiced confidence that the people of Tripura would soon rise again, with the CPIM leading the charge for real change and progress.
